This course teaches performance mixer skills for DJs, including the use of FX to enhance transitions and cutting in specific elements of a track. Legendary DJ Yousef will take you through the advantages and disadvantages of performance mixing as when and how to use it effectively.

What you'll learn:
In this course, you will learn essential performance mixer skills for DJs that will take your sets to the next level. The course will cover the use of FX to enhance transitions and cutting in specific elements of a track. You will also learn when and how to use performance mixing effectively, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this technique. Through this course, you will gain a deeper understanding of the art of DJing and how to engage your audience with your unique style.
Yousef will be using the Pioneer DJ DJM-V10 mixer, four Pioneer DJ CDJ 3000 decks, and a Pioneer DJ RMX-1000 effects unit. But, don't worry if you don't have this exact equipment as the techniques taught in this course can be applied to any DJ controller.
- Understand what performance mixer skills are and when to use them.
- Learn how to use FX to embellish transitions, including modulation FX, spatial FX, and noise.
- Know when and how to use reverb and delay to create tails and echoes.
- Learn how to cut in specific elements of a track using channel or crossfaders.
- Understand which track elements work well for cutting in, such as snare drums, hi-hats, and melodic or vocals.

Yousef (Circus)
Yousef is a leading figurehead in the dance music scene, renowned for his skill and contribution to the global electronic music landscape for over 20 years. He has released four full artist albums, including the critically acclaimed "9 Moor Drive," and has a discography featuring releases on Crosstown Rebels, Desolat, Cocoon, Moon Harbour, Knee Deep in Sound, and Defected.
Alongside his music career, Yousef founded and runs the highly regarded Circus Recordings and Circus Events. The latter has hosted some of the biggest names in electronic music over the last two decades, including a world-first five-hour B2B2B set with Seth Troxler, The Martinez Brothers, Joseph Capriati, and Loco Dice.
Yousef's passion for the electronic music scene and his campaigning efforts to address the challenges it has faced due to the pandemic led him to represent the community in private meetings with HRH Prince William and leading MPs. His efforts paved the way for Circus to organise "The First Dance," the world's first sanctioned music test event since COVID-19 struck. The event attracted global attention and is now cited as one of the most significant moments in electronic music history.
For his work, Yousef and Circus were awarded the "Impact Award" on BBC Radio One. With his trusted voice, passion, and accomplishments, Yousef remains one of the most respected and influential DJs and producers in the electronic music industry.
